The aim of the project was to design and manufacture a boat with a mechanism, which could direct the boat from one end of a pool to the other and return, using solar power as the energy form and without employing any energy storage device such as a spring or batteries.
Responsibilities & Achievements
Achieved 1st position in the design competition and 2nd position in the race out of 20 boats.
High performance achieved in cloudy weather due to energy efficient design that included optimal material and design selection by conducting evaluation criteria and/or concept selection matrix.
Successfully created a robust design that included lightweight, turning mechanism and optimum inclination of solar panel that performed exceptionally well in cloudy weather.
Manufactured within a limited budget of $100 ($25 each member).
