I am a recent graduate Mechanical Engineer with Honours based in Melbourne seeking an opportunity to contribute and be part of an innovative engineering community.
My curiosity and drive to study Engineering and explore other cultures first brought me to Australia from Pakistan in 2013. Exposure to multiple challenges simultaneously such as adjusting to a new culture, total immersion in a second language and meeting & working with people from different cultural & professional backgrounds has made me adaptive to change and further developed my skills as a team player.
All this has contributed to my approach in studying Engineering and has been further encouraged by being a part of various academic and engineering societies at Swinburne University, such as my position as Dynamics Design Engineer at F-SAE, where I designed & optimized uprights and a-arms using Solidworks, conducted force and Finite Element Analysis using ANSYS, remained involved in manufacturing processes, and successfully recruited sponsors and student mentor at the MASH centre.
I recently completed a six-month Industry placement as a Mechanical Design Intern at Factory of the Future located in the Swinburne University of Technology. This facility works in collaboration with industry and academic experts to develop new products and methods of manufacturing, which are environmentally sustainable and solve key challenges using technologies such as 3D visualization, virtual reality, and additive manufacturing.
This placement helped me to improve my technical skills and familiarised me with the challenges of being in a professional work environment. As an intern my responsibilities included the following:
INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE
TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGIES
OTHER SKILLS
